MASKING THIS WEEK AT LESS IS MORE ..........

Hello lovely bloggers everywhere - hope your week is going well?
*********
Just popping by to share my make for this week's challenge at LESS IS MORE. Our lovely LIMette Leaders, Chrissie and Mandi, would like us to do some Masking, so I decided to use a technique which involves three stamps.
***
I am sure lots of you will know how to do masking with three stamps, but for those of you who would like the details, I will pop them below.
Update - March 30th - My card has been ShowCASed - whoo-hoo!
Thank-you Chrissie and Mandi !
********

 1. Stamp the Torn Aperture onto a piece of cardstock.
2.Stamp again onto a piece of paper (larger than the cardstock).
3. Cut out the aperture centre only. (mask #1).
4. Place mask over the image you stamped onto the cardstock.
5. Stamp a suitable image over the mask (I used Hero Arts Gracious Lady).
6. Remove mask.
7. Stamp aperture once more onto paper, then cut around the image. Do not cut out the centre.(mask #2).
8. Place  mask #2 over the entire image which you stamped onto cardstock.
9. Stamp a background image (I used Inkadinkado Lace 90355).  Remove mask.
*********
I would love to know if anyone else has used this Artifacts "Torn Aperture" stamp in the past?
Here it is (looks a bit strange doesn't it)!  I bought mine several years ago, but I've checked and it is still available from The Stamp Bug online shop.
*********

On my card I also used Versafine ink pads -  Crimson Red and Smokey Gray.  Copics here and there to give some shading.
Red Bazzil cardstock.
******

The Anna Griffin sentiment stamp was also masked - the full wording is Forever and Always, so some cellotape over the unwanted bits before inking does the trick! (Remove cellotape before stamping - but I'm sure you know that)!!!
**********
Apologies for the looooooong Post!
Enjoy the rest of your week ~ love to all  ~

What an unusual stamp Syliva, but how effective it looks used that way.

Really effective use of the Torn Aperture stamp, Sylvia. You would think you have torn the paper rather than used a stamp. Rachel.

Actually Sylvia, I am not having a very good week, every thing I try to make has gone in the bin. I have never done any masking and have struggled to do the simplest thing I can so you can imagine how in awe I am of your entry, 3 stamps as well, you lost me after the first few lines. Fabulous card, fabulous masking, may skip this weeks, I need a month.

This card really jumped out at me when I was looking at all the submissions. I've not seen the torn aperture stamp before Sylvia but I just love what you've done with it and the lace looks amazing. I love the shadow you created around the image it is so 3D!

Lovely elegant card, thanks for tip on masking, i would have worked out to remove the sellotape before stamping only after I'd tried it with it on first - duh!!!!

This is such an interesting design - I really love the way you interpreted the challenge. The torn aperture image is really unusual, and you've put it to great use here! Thanks for the step by step!

Absolutely gorgeous Sylvia, surely this one will be CAS showcased if they are still doing that.
I don't have that stamp but I've seen similar.
Ideas I have is to stamp it again and just glue down the inside edges of the torn bits and roll the loose ends round a paintbrush to give a true 3D effect (your shading is superb).

I have seen a similar stamp used on an altered book. Where the pages have been dug out and the stamp is the top layer again in true 3D form.

Personally I would use it on the bottom layer of an easel card, build up layers underneath it (like the altered book) and use it to form the raised stop to hold the easel bit in place and would use a memo pin from Tim Holtz's ideaology range to support a message or image popping out of the torn centre.

Or you could use it on the inside of a normal folded card, it would be a real unexpected surprise when it was opened up :-)
A wonderful stamp in your collection.
Hope you are enjoying this wonderful weather. I am trying to when I'm not coughing like a seal. I thought I was too old for croup...

I have seen a similar stamp and thought at the time I'd love to have it. Like most things - I'd forgotten about it till I saw this great card. Very clever stamping and a lovely design.
