CHALLENGE No. 45 AT THE CRAFTY PAD!

Hi Peeps - hope you are having a very restful Sunday whilst doing a bit of blogging!
Just want to let you know that the challenge this week at The Crafty Pad is to work with a sketch by the lovely Maxine. The winner will be picked at random and the prize is a one-week GDT spot at The Crafty Pad plus the stamp which the DT will be working with that week. For your project you can use any stamp you wish, but if you use one of Debbie's beautiful stamps (available to order from The Crafty Pad blog), your name will be entered twice into the draw.

Above is my take on the sketch, and I have used the following ingredients:-
Blue Bazzill cardstock, Basic Grey Figgy Pudding papers, X-Cut snowflake punch, Watercolour pencils for Christmas Ted's body, CB Swiss Dots folder, Glamour Dust and Cosmic Simmer Iced Crystal Glitter Jewels on the snow and the snowflakes. Ted's hat and Snowman's hat and scarf are paper-pieced with the Basic Grey paper. Greeting stamp is an old Dovecraft one.
I was so happy to win the competition recently for a 6-week GDT spot, working with the lovely Debbie and her team at The Crafty Pad, and this is my card for week one! Thanks Debbie and Team!!

PEACOCK LADY

Hi peeps! Hope you have escaped the buckets of rain today! This Best Wishes card is stamped with the Elusive Images Peacock Lady, and small Peacock, plus corner flourishes from an Elusive Images Butterfly theme plate. The greeting and oval scallop punch are from Stampin'Up. I have coloured part of the image with Sakura pens, and added a pearl onto the lady's hand.
The BP is a freebie download from the Funky Fairys Blue Christmas set, (see the link in my side-bar) and it seemed to be the perfect match for the image as it is turquoise, and has swirls rather like a Peacock's tail feathers!! The edges of the paper were inked with Versafine Smokey Grey before layering onto a black A5 card.

CARDS FOR FLISS AND IKKI

Hi there! At last - another post! This is going to be a loooong one - sorry!!! Hope you can keep awake until the end!!

I recently won some beautiful Blog Candy rubber stamps over at The Stampers Chef. (Please see my post of October 9th). Fliss is the lovely lady from The Stampers Chef who designs her own range of stamps for Hobby Art Ltd. (You can find a link to the shop on Fliss's blog). There are three sets in her "Oodles of Doodles" range, and the stamps are so detailed and give a perfect impression every time - they were a joy to use. As promised Fliss, here are the cards I made using just a few of your beautiful stamps.

These cards will be sent to the lovely Ikki at Ikki's Cuttlebug Cupboard. If you pay her a visit, you will see she is asking if bloggers would like to make a card to help support her local Breast Cancer Unit. All cards will be sold by the Clinic to raise much-needed funds. Thank you Ikki.

Card No. 1:- 6" square white card with one of the small flowers stamped randomly using black Versafine. The large flower, which has a smaller flower centre, was stamped twice - the small central flower was cut from one of the images and decoupaged. Two red Dew Drops, red ribbon, faux stitching and a greeting to finish.

Card No. 2:- I love these tiny little white cards from Anita's - just 4" square and they have a nice texture to them. (Believe me, they are snow white in real life, but not on my photos - more of a dirty grey)!!! This beautiful butterfly has been stamped onto shrink plastic and partly coloured with Sakura Gelly Roll pens. After shrinking, a layer of Diamond Glaze was added and a sprinkling of Glamour Dust (yep - I've used it again)!! Gold Krylon pen added to the edges, and I made new antennae from gold wire. (The butterfly stamp does have it's own beautiful antennae but I removed them before shrinking, as any tiny sticky-out bits tend to curl up too much - very stressful)!!
Layered onto gold textured card and turquoise Bazzill, gold thread wrapped around the punched corners.

Card No. 3:- This one was quite difficult to photograph as the top layer is acetate and it looks much nicer in real life. (Honest - it does)! The large heart was stamped onto the acetate overlay with Staz-On Cotton White. Glamour Dust added (surprise surprise, as Cilla used to say). The inside is pale green Bazzill adhered to the back section, with two small hearts stamped in Olive Green ColorBox Ink. Edges inked with Topaz Versacolour. The darker green Bazzill, which creates the narrow border, is attached onto the outside of the acetate (on the back), so the acetate is sandwiched between the two layers. Orange and green ribbon, and a stamped sentiment complete the card.

CHRISTMAS STEP CARD

Hi everyone - hope you've had a lovely day.

When I was hopping around blogland tonight I found a lovely new challenge blog called Crafty Catz(well new to me anyway) and this week's challenge is Snowmen and Snowflakes, so I immediately thought "ooooh - that step card I made a couple of weeks ago will just fit the bill", so here it is....hope you like it!!

The Snowman stamp is part of a set from Elusive Images,the greeting is from a Papermania set. X-Cut Snowflake punch and Fiskars border punch.

Candy Cane Stickles, and a sprinkling of Crystal Glamour Dust here and there!

Brocade Blue cardstock and ink from Stampin'Up.

12th OCTOBER UPDATE - THE "UGLY" CARD IS NOW ON HER WAY TO MERSEYSIDE!

The Travelling "Ugly" Card arrived in West Yorkshire last week, sent to me by the lovely Lyn (Spyder). The card originated from Dianne Forst in Canada who thought it would be a great idea and lots of fun to see just how far her little card could travel!

And so the journey began - Dianne sent the card to Tracy, also in Canada, then it went to Jen in Hawaii, who sent it to Rita in Massachusetts. Rita sent it to Lyn, and Lyn passed the card to me here in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

12th October, 1.30pm. The Draw has now taken place and "Ugly" is on her way to Cath in Merseyside - enjoy! Thank you to all the lovely bloggers who joined in the fun!

VINTAGE RUBY WEDDING

Hi there! Another Ruby Wedding card for a friend, this time with a vintage feel. I have used one of my favourite rubber stamps - "Monsieur & Madam" from Inkadinkado. The papers are K&Co. "Madeline", the ornate corners and hearts were made with Cuttlebug dies.

MS Lace Doily border punch, Retro Flower punches from EK Success, leaf punch from Woodware. Added a teeny-weeny bit of Glamour Dust (of course) and a couple of Dew Drops.

Hope you like it 'cos it took ages to make - you know when you get one of those days when nothing seems to go according to plan - well that was today!!!!! (for me at any rate - hope it was a whole lot better for you, my lovely friends)!

DOODLE DAISY DOES THE COPIC COLOUR CHALLENGE!

Morning everyone! Hope you have all had a great week. Just sharing a card I have made for a friend's birthday, using one of Claire's fabulous digi Doodle stamps, which I absolutely adore! If you pop along to Claire's lovely blog, you will find a link to her new on-line Doodles shop.

I am entering my card into this week's Copic Colour Challenge, and although I don't have the exact shades, it is allowed to use the nearest you've got! Daisy has been coloured using Copics YR07 Cadmium Orange, YG63 Pea Green, and Y21 Buttercup Yellow. (I only need another 118 Copic pens and I'll have the full set)!!!! The flower she is holding has been decoupaged, and as usual there has been a sprinkling of Glamour Dust! The grass has been added with the Copics (very artistic)!!! The clear gems are Dew Drops, and I popped one onto the flower 'cos it looks like a Dew Drop!

Other items used are Bazzill Witch Hazel cardstock, papers from K&Co, and MME Bloom & Grow, Brilliance Ink Pearlescent Rust and Distress Ink Tattered Rose.

THE CRAFTY PAD GUEST DESIGNER SPOT - CHRISTMAS SPARKLE AND RIBBON!

I have used red Bazzill cardstock, white card embossed with Swiss Dots CB folder, CB snowflakes, Nesties, ribbons from my stash, and a sprinkling of Glamour Dust (I think I'm addicted to it)!! Percy & Parker were coloured with Copics, and Stickles glitter glue, then cut out and curved slightly and attached with silicone glue to give a 3-d effect.
So, get out that ribbon and glitter and join in the fun! The prize is a 1-week GDT spot, and a stamp which the DT will be working with.

GREAT TO BE BACK!

Hi - just a quick note to say it's nice to be back from holiday (I do love holidays, but I also love to get back to my favourite things)! Just adding a couple of pics. I took when we visited Howick Hall Gardens in Northumberland - thought you might like to see them. The first is an old weathered door on the Church situated in the gardens, (it is actually used as the local village church). Thought the colours were so beautiful. The second photo is a maple leaf which had come to rest on the centre of an old stone cross laid in the church-yard. Just loved the contrast of the stone with the vivid colour of the leaf. RUBY WEDDING

Hi everyone - hope you're all having a lovely day! (It's been raining buckets in West Yorkshire)!

This is for a friend's Ruby Wedding - I stamped the Penny Black "Good Cheer" image in Versafine Smokey Grey, then heat embossed it before colouring. No Copics were harmed in the making of this card as I used watercolour pencils instead!

The background paper is from the K&Co Madeline collection, and I have also used the same papers for some of the flowers. I have used Bazzill Bling for the base card, Bazzill Basics for the layers and the leaves, and some red velvet ribbon (which I've had for ages and I nearly cried when I cut into it as I love it so much - you know the feeling don't you?)!

Punches used are Woodware grass, EK Success retro flowers and Martha Stewart doily lace border. Oh yes - almost forgot - the gems are those lovely little Dew Drops in a cute little bottle. Added a CB heart stamped with a "40", Anniversary stamp from Hero Arts, Glamour Dust here & there, and that's it!

BLOG CANDY FROM LYN AT SPYDER'S CORNER!

I am such a happy bunny - Postman Pat has just delivered Lyn's amazing Blog Candy parcel which I won on Week 3 of her weekly blog candy draw! There are papers, peel-offs, charms, die-cuts, fibres, glitter - in fact you really can't see everything in the photo, as there is just so much, including a HUGE collection of Lyn's hand-stamped images, all ready to colour-in. The icing on the cake (or cherry on the ice-cream Sundae) is Lyn's fabulous Card-Wallet which holds all the images.

Hi - it's warm and sunny here in West Yorkshire at the moment, so just couldn't resist taking these photos of the Oriental Lilies in the back garden - thought you might like to see them!! It's such a shame that we don't have "smelly-blog" - the scent is fabulous. We bought 4 bulbs about 6 years ago and every year they multiply and produce 4ft-high plants which have been re-potted over the years, into several large tubs. (Click on the pics. if you would like to see them in close-up)!

MONOCHROME MIKEY

Oooooh - this was a real challenge for me as I love colour, but thought I would take the Dottie's World Monochromatic Challenge to the extreme, and use white, shades of grey, through to black. I love this Mikey digi. image (from Charmed Cards & Crafts) and thought he would be perfect for the colour scheme. I have used Copics in Cool Grey No. 1 and Cool Grey No. 3, a black and a grey watercolour pencil (without the water), a Black Sakura Glaze pen for the hair, and I just had to add a bit of flesh colour to his skin (wouldn't have looked very attractive in grey)! The spotty paper is from Doodlebug and the stamp is from HOTP.

FANTASY FILM BUTTERFLY - Charmed Somethings Challenge

Hi there - hope you are enjoying the lovely sunshine. We have had lots of beautiful butterflies in the garden this past few days, so I thought I would show you my card which has a butterfly made from two layers of Fantasy Film - OK so it's not as fabulous as the real thing, but it is a beautiful stamp (part of a set from Elusive Images). It's also great to try something a bit different every now and then! Hope you like it.

The green Bazzill card has been stamped with a Versamark ink pad and the Hero Arts Fancy Swirls background stamp. The useful little "Just for You" stamp is part of the Stamping for Him set by Clare Curd. Heart charm from my stash.
If you have never tried using Fantasy Film do give it a go - it is very easy to use and the Film comes in some fab. colours. Ink up your stamp with black ink, place two or three layers of Film over the upturned stamp, place a layer of vellum (parchment) over the Film, then apply heat for approx. 15 seconds with a dry iron. When the stamped image shows through the vellum you can remove the Film. Repeat with another colour of Film then cut out the two stamped images, and hey presto - it's done! Just apply some coloured glitter for extra bling! Love, Sylvia xxxx

SOMEBIRDY SPECIAL

COPICS COLOUR CHALLENGE and

JUST MAGNOLIA CHALLENGE

Hi to everyone on this lovely wet Sunday morning! (Well, it's wet up North anyway - hope it's better where you are)! I am now going to make my first attempt at multi-tasking in the "more-than-one-challenge" category. Beautiful Tilda and her little birdie are heading off first of all to the http://copicscolourchallenge.blogspot.com/ which fitted in nicely with her new Coral dress, Pea Green shoes and Orangey-red hair. As Tilda had taken such a lot of time to get dressed up, she decided to pop in and see her little pals at the Just Magnolia Challenge, where she has to be centre of attention on a lovely sketch layout , http://justmagnolia.blogspot.com/ . When she arrives, she intends to give the little birdie in its glittery cage, to Somebirdy Special. (Just sat here wondering - is it time I grew up)??

PEACOCK FANTASY

Thought I would share this little bit of Fantasy with you , which I made today using shrink plastic, just for a change. It's a bit fiddly to work with, but great fun when it starts to curl, at which point I usually come out in a hot sweat (or maybe that's just my age). I love this Elusive Images Peacock Lady stamp from Glenda Waterworth, and have set it onto a very simple background so as not to detract from the image. (To be honest, I just couldn't find anything in my stash which looked "right")! Parts of the headdress were coloured with Sakura Gelly Roll pens. The piece was edged with gold Krylon then finished off with a coating of Diamond Glaze and a light sprinkling of Glamour Dust whilst wet. The turquoise Bazzill card was wrapped with gold thread, and two tiny beads were added, also on gold thread.

SWIRLS

Here is my card (again)! for the "Swirls" challenge at http://pennybfriendssaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/ Firstly, I must apologise to the lovely ladies at Penny Black Saturday Challenge, for accidentally deleting my previous post for this card - oh dear, another senior moment! (And apologies to the other lovely ladies who had already left sweet comments).
The card is Bazzill Bling Blind Date, and the image is from a sheet of Penny Black Stickeroos, which I "re-discovered" amongst my stash, after reading about this week's Challenge. The swirly paper is from the Basic Grey Euphoria collection and I added a stamped swirly greeting from HOTP. The MS doily lace border punch is my latest crafty purchase (love it) and this was its first outing! Stamped some swirls, attached a hand-written message on the bag, and a charm from elaine at http://paperie.quixoticcards.com to finish. Thank you so much for looking. Hugs, Sylvia xxxx

DRAGONFLY DREAMS

This is my first attempt at "altered art" , and definitely out of my crafting comfort zone! The 5" square box with it's flat central recess was just crying out to be used in some way and I thought it might be OK for the Dazzle of Dragonflies challenge at http://bigartadventure.blogspot.com/ with Linda and Rosie. The box was originally white, and orange inside the recess (had a bottle of perfume in - birthday prezzie last week)!! - I painted the outsides with Mauve Shimmerz, but wasn't happy, so added some gilding flakes then went over these with a brayer and Kaleidacolor "Flannel" ink pad, which helped to adhere the flakes as well. Painted the recess black, then cut a meadow scene card I made ages ago, into strips, brayered with the same ink pad, stamped some tiny dragonflies, added a bit of glitter, and Shimmerz on the wings, attached the pieces at angles into the recess, then added the entrance ticket (freebie stamp from Craft Stamper mag.). Again, the (rather too large for the box) dragonfly was something I made ages ago from Fantasy Film - the colours didn't really go with the box, so I added some Alcohol Inks. I had no idea where I was going with this when I began yesterday, and it sort of evolved, and I thoroughly enjoyed doing something "just for the sake of it", if you know what I mean!!! THE CRAFTY PAD CHALLENGE

Men's cards are definitely NOT my favourite to make, (why can't men be happy with fairies, flowers and glamour dust)? but this is for a golfing friend. The sentiment stamp is from a set which I bought from the lovely Debbie at http://thecraftypad.blogspot.com/ I originally punched holes where the buttons now sit, but when I saw the challenge at the Crafty Pad, ( buttons required) I thought aha - these tiny old buttons would look better than the holes, and they do look a teeny-weeny bit like golf balls (if you screw your eyes up really tight)!! So, this is my challenge card for The Crafty Pad, if I am not disqualified for doing a bit of last-minute "altering"!! (The trousers and cap have been paper-pieced).

At last another card! Went to Keswick for a few days last week (birthday treat from hubby - had fabulous weather). JUST MAGNOLIA CHALLENGE

The theme of this week's Just Magnolia Challenge at http://justmagnolia.blogspot.com/ is "Summer", and this is my take on it as I always associate Roses (my favourite flower) with Summer. As I don't have a particularly "summery" Magnolia stamp, I have used this one - OK, so she is wearing a little cardi, but up North where I come from, children have to wear a cardi when they play out, even in Summer!!! With Father's Day in mind I stamped the DIY Forever Friends bear, heat embossed then coloured with my (very limited) collection of Copic pens - I really must buy some more colours - the greys would have been useful for the metal tools etc)!! The background pieces are silver mirri card, embossed in the CB. Very difficult for an amateur photographer like me to get a decent shot of the mirri - after trillions of attempts, it was pure luck that it turned out looking silver, and not black! The washers I bought from a hardware store ages ago for a man's card - very cheap embellishments! The little hammer brad at the top is from the New Woodware tool brads, which I used to attach the silver curly thingy!

Dottie's World Sunday Challenge - Coffee & Cream

At last, another card! This one is for Dottie's World Sunday challenge (hope that means it lasts all week, and not just for 24 hours on a Sunday - otherwise I'm a bit too late)!! Anyway, the challenge is "Coffee & Cream with Spots or Stripes" (phew), plus a digi download from Charmed Cards & Crafts. This is Mikey, coloured with Copics . The striped & spotted papers are from the Basic Grey Wisteria range, and there is actually quite a bit of cream amongst the stripes, which doesn't show up too well on my photo. The brown and cream background cardstock is Core-dinations. Hope you have all been enjoying the sunshine -let's hope it lasts a while! I would love to receive your comments, good or bad!!
